Watching It Burn came together in the summer of 2015, when local Boston area bassist, Matt Goguen, and local Boston area guitarist, Mike Burke decided to get together for a jam. Matt reached out to friend and local Boston area drummer, Tim Norton to sit in on kit. With no expectations, but to have fun, the trio got together and their chemistry was obvious very early on. Within the first month, several songs had been written and many more were in the works. Having all been in several bands prior, they know that finding reliable musicians can be difficult. Burke, having singing experience and having already written a lot of lyrics for most of the songs, stepped up and the three decided that he should front the project.
The three began solidifying the songs they'd written together and within 6 months had enough material to start recording. During mid February, Watching It Burn entered the studio and began laying basic tracks for what would be their debut album. By the end of April, they had recorded 8 songs. Just barely enough material for an Extended Play, they went back to the studio and wrote and recorded 2 more songs to complete the record. The collection of 10 tracks are a body of work that they are very proud of and even the songs that were written in the studio sit well on the album. This is the result of the musicianship, experience and musical camaraderie of 3 seasoned players coming together at just the right time. Give them a listen and you be the judge.
